SUMMARY

The Kangaroo Point Apartment competition illustrates an expression of wrapping the building envelope around a corner block to maximise site coverage whilst taking advantage of natural views, light and ventilation through tiered levels and perforated cladding. The design is inspired by the dynamic Kangaroo Point cliffs and surrounding area where the rocky edges are softened by overgrown vegetation and the calm waters edge. Natural weathering to the perforated copper facade will tie into the local character and evoke a sense of change in a fast paced, city envrionment. The outdoor community feel that Kangaroo Point boasts is also captured through enhancing the sites usability and livability across shared spaces such as the podium level and roof top. Assisting in the modelling of the masses and applying the desired look and feel of this design was both challenging and exciting.
